The following line of xml descibes all settings:

The 'width' and 'height' describe the size of the thumbnails. If the thumbnails appear at the top of your album, the height will be used for the height of the "thumbnail-bar".
When setting 'crop' to true, make sure that the shortest side of the thumbnails which are being loaded is at least the size of the 'width' or 'height' specified. Here's a info-graphic showing how the cropping is done:
